The ACDE provides for three types of membership: Institutional Membership – For institutions of learning that are providers or potential providers of open and distance learning; Associate Membership - For National or Sub-Regional Distance Learning Associations and/or Organizations with interest in open and distance learning; and Individual membership- For individuals who are educators, researchers, scholars, students or those that are involved or have an interest in any aspect of open and distance learning. Membership registration fee is US $1000 for Institutional members and $500 for associate institutional members and $100 for individual members. Registration fee (joining fee) is paid once. In order to maintain membership of ACDE, an annual subscription fee of a similar amount will be payable each year. Membership registration may be availed upon request or downloaded from the ACDE website at http://www.acde-africa.org . Members of ACDE are entitled to a free copy of the African Journal of Distance Education – an official Journal of ACDE published biannually. In addition, membership of ACDE provides opportunity for institutions and individuals to join other Vice Chancellors, Rectors, academics, researchers, policy makers and ODL practitioners from other universities and higher education institutions on the African continent, in: - Collectively reflecting on and seeking solutions to challenges of and opportunities for expanding access to education and training through distance education and open learning in Africa.
- Collaborating in the formulation and implementation of strategies for resource mobilization to establish and sustain a Pan African Quality and Standards body, in particular set up and maintain the ACDE as an accreditation institution for distance learning across Africa, in order to enable the prestige and high quality of distance education across the continent especially for governance, to be better assured.
- Participating in and benefiting from the various collaborative programs, activities and publications of ACDE that are dedicated to informing and improving policy as well as the theory and practice of open learning and distance education.
- Being continuously updated with information on how you as an institution or individual can contribute to and benefit from the strategic goals, programs and activities of the ACDE.
